The model:“a watercourse typical of a siliceous basement rock”

Tiefenbach II
Tiefenbach II

The Kall and its tributaries belong to running waters typical of those on siliceous basement rock, which, given the hilly relief and shallow soils, are characterized by extensive and often near-pristine accompanying woodlands. The bed of the stream consists of protruding rocks or gravel of varying sizes, while the water is slightly acidic or neutral. Three stream types can be distinguished: the notched valley stream, which joins the main river near to its source, the narrow flood-plain valley stream, and the up to 10-metre-wide broad flood-plain valley stream, to which category the lower reaches of the Kall belong (LUA NRW [1999]).
